Crypto bros are freaking out this morning. The market just took a massive hit.

Don’t cry.

Here are a few things worth noticing:

1. BTC Price Volatility

BTC hit an ATH last month at $68k. It’s now down in the mid/high-40’s. This is still up nearly 2.5X on the year (Jan was $19k). It may dip more. Maintain perspective. What other assets are doing these numbers?

2. ETH and Big Cap Alt Volatility

Most of the big cap ALTs are still doing fairly well, all things considered. ETH stayed pretty solid IMO. Let’s not forget it was $500-600 in Dec ’20. Don’t freak out about it being $4k (down from $4.8k ATH) now. Crazy gains.

3. Volatility vs Risk

Remember the difference between risk and volatility. What we are seeing now is the extreme volatility of crypto. This is part of the game. That’s why it is a marathon, not a sprint. Where is the capital going long term? Do you see the dollar being a truly safer bet? I don’t.

This chart shows the buying power of the US dollar over time since we left the gold standard in 1971, factoring in inflation. $1 in 1971 is the equivalent of $6.83 today.

4. Follow The Money

The biggest companies in the world are becoming blockchain companies (FB to Meta, Square to Block). The day-to-day is scary but if you believe in the future that these billionaires do, the industry will be fine. Follow the money.

5. Buy The Dip

5.) This is actually a good time to get in if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines. It’s not tolerable for things to keep going up and up indefinitely without dipping.

This is still a growing asset class. We need corrections. Buy the dip if you can. Only invest what you can afford to lose.
